Thu N. Huynh, Ph.D.

(Tuh Win)

Principal Investigator

I received my Ph.D. in neuroscience from New York University in New York, NY in 2015 where I studied the role of protein synthesis in learning and memory in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Klann.  Then, I trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Weill Cornell Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. Conor Liston where I used calcium imaging to study circuit mechanisms of learning and memory.

Prior to joining the Department of Biochemistry at Midwestern University in 2020, I was an adjunct assistant professor at Hunter College in New York City where I taught behavioral pharmacology. My laboratory uses behavioral and biochemical techniques to study the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic stress induced impairments of learning and memory.

During my free time, you will find me with my family, which includes my wonderful partner, our three children and our mini-golden doodle. Their happiness is what motivates me, and thus I am an open and strong supporter of a healthy work life balance. You can catch us on the tennis court, at the local zoo & aquarium, and enjoying the Arizona sun.

Ping Chu

Research Specialist

Ping graduated from Zhenjiang Medical College, Jiangsu University in China with a medical degree in Clinical Laboratory Medicine. She worked in a clinical lab for more than 10 years before she moved to the US.

She joined Midwestern University in September 2013 and worked under the supervision of Dr. Ramsey, Dr. Jentarra and other faculty. Most of the time, she works with two PIs, conducting research projects and helping the students perform their lab experiments based on the advice of their PI. Her current research project in Dr. Jentarra’s lab is to study the potential involvement of infectious agents in the development of Alzheimer's disease. She joined Dr. Huynh’s lab in June 2020. She is helping Dr. Huynh establish a new lab and will perform mouse behavioral tests with Dr. Huynh’s help.

Her research techniques include molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, animal study. During her spare time, she enjoys reading mystery books and taking brisk walks.
